Becoming a Member
Membership is the core of our club. The membership fees provide the necessary funds for us to maintain and improve the facility. Members provide the activity, manpower, ideas, and spirit that makes the club thrive.
Lilydale Bowmen is a members-only archery club and we encourage new members of all ages to come and join. The Club is open most Wednesday nights from 6:30pm for practice and we welcome new people to visit & introduce themselves. Committee members are usually present and can assist in getting you started. Already an Archer?
If you are already an archer and have your own equipment and are looking to shoot with us, we’d love to meet you. New to Archery – Beginners Course
If you are new to archery or field archery to become a member you must first complete our introduction course. The introduction course runs over 3 separate, fun days of shooting with the club coach and other beginners. To find out more or sign up for an Introductory Course click the link below.
Joining ABA
The Club is affiliated with the Australian Bowhunters Association (ABA) which is the national body which governs our sport throughout Australia. As well as setting the rules and regulations, ABA provides members and clubs with public liability insurance. Members also receive a copy of ABA’s bi-monthly magazine, Archery Action. A hunting program is also available for members interested in this aspect of the sport.
To become a member of Lilydale Bowmen you must become a member of ABA first. You can sign up online with the link below
Membership fees
The membership to Lilydale Bowmen is a 12-month membership due at the beginning of each year. Cost is pro-rata from the day you join with your annual renewal payment at the start of each year in the future.
All Membership fees are non-inclusive of ABA Membership Fees.
Please note the discounted Club Membership rate for completing the intro course only applies within 3 months of completing the course.
IMPORTANT: You will also need membership of ABA our governing body. Unlike our memberships, it is a 12-month rolling membership starting from when your join.


For club members Our club grounds are open from dawn to dusk, 7 days a week.
Why Become a Member
Lilydale Bowmen is a very active club, sponsoring up to 2 outdoor shoots a month and several major tournaments a year. These shoots include 3D, ABA coloured or IFAA black-and-white targets. A 20 target ABA shoot is held each month plus a often a second shoot alternating between 3D and IFAA.
Our indoor shoots are held from February through October each Wednesday evening where archers shoot IFAA style paper targets. These shoots include National & International events.
Our outdoor target season runs from February until October. The twenty target ranges offer shots with distances from 5 metres to 48 metres for ABA events and 20 feet to 80 yards for IFAA events. The targets vary in size and color.
3D events offers shooting at life size 3-D animals ranging from deer, bears, wolves, African Safari type animals, frogs, turkeys, pigs, and dinosaurs. Each animal has scoring rings sanctioned by the National 3D Round.
As a member of Lilydale Bowmen, you’ll have year-round access to the club’s facilities featuring our 4 outdoor ranges set on 35 acres, a 12 lane indoor range, 2 outdoor practice areas with target distances ranging from 6 to 60 meters and a broadhead practice area for hunters. The facilities also feature picnic tables & a toilet block.
Access to certified club instructors. Plus additional Club activities run throughout the year including but not limited to social, training events, novelty shoots & working bees.
