About Lilydale Bowmen

About our Club

Lilydale Bowmen Inc. is situated in the “Doongalla Estate Reserve” at the foothills of Mount Dandenong in the basin area, off Pavitt Lane.

As opposed to target archery using flat open turf, field archery is shot in the bush, which can range from open scrub land to quite steep terrain. Lilydale Bowmen utilizes approximately 35 acres of gently sloping “State Forest” leased from the shire of Yarra Ranges.

The clubhouse is surrounded by pleasant grassed parkland, used for parking and visitor camping, while in the lower sections of the property the Dandenong creek flows through picturesque fern stands. The four 20 target field courses which wind their way around the grounds are set up for multipurpose use for the various games, ABA, IFAA and 3D. A field archery round has many similarities with a golf round, though the target lanes are shorter then fairways.

Club Grounds Rules

Safety is of the utmost importance on the archery range. Lilydale Bowmen has adopted a set of rules that govern the behavior of all archers on the grounds. A couple of the most important ones are as follows…

No liquor to be consumed on any course, practice butts or novelty competition areas, whilst competition or practice is in progress. No person under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs will be allowed to shoot

No crossbows to be used on the club grounds

Persons are not to venture off marked tracks or remove or damage natural flora within the Club grounds.

On days of declared EXTREME fire risk or greater no activity will be permitted on the site. This means no personal or club activities will be permitted. The grounds are automatically closed to all members and visitors. All activities on such days will be cancelled. It is the responsibility of the individual members to be aware of fire rating which is declared through various media.

You must take home all rubbish as we don’t have council rubbish collection here.

Please note NO PETS ARE ALLOWED ON THE CLUB GROUNDS.
